about

This is quite possibly the last album by Churn Milk Joan.
Richard was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in June 2019, so we spent June and July 2019 doing a lot of recording while he was still able to play instruments.

Churn Milk Joan are:
Richard Knutson: lead vocals, instruments
Colin Robinson: instruments, vocals
with
Mark Joell: instruments, vocals (tracks 1,2,6,7,14,16)
Mark Cottrell: vocals, guitar (tracks 3,8,12,14)

Engineering and production by Richard Knutson and Colin Robinson
Mastering by Richard Knutson

Recorded in Hebden Bridge, mastered in Bolton; most songs recorded in June and July 2019.
The rhythm track of Friday 13th Part 15 was recorded on Friday 13th April 2018.

"Slag in particular could be an offcut from a Belew era KC album that never was. Brilliantly quirky as always." - Dave Pearson

"Wow this is very good guys! Fantastic experimental and expressive music from two of the most inventive dudes I know! Highly recommended!" - Jon du Bose

"It’s fabulous! I love it! Bravo to you both." - Janice Johnston Howie

"Your Farout Freaky Friends from BrainCheese/Kinzmania, have absorbed the entire Album, and we think it is Terrific. We Love the Obscuro Hebden Bridge Sound you have Created... Attn: Colin & Richard" - Kelrod Kilwalski

"I am just blown away by the tsunami of creativity that smashes into my auditory cortex every time I hear this album" - Dave Pearson

"No act will ever sound like Churn Milk Joan and it's a bloody shame that this will be their final hurrah. A wonderfully eclectic piece of Dadaesque storytelling wrapped in layers of quirky, free flowing music that celebrates art for art's sake." - Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood weblog

"Appears CMJ attached instruments and noise generators to 17 chickens.......(most of the headed variety) ... these were then mixed in an extraordinarily entertaining manner with Richard's stimulating vocals making it the best album I've heard all year........ Richards vocals are right up there... as good as the best..... Bowie/ Velvet Reed with menace/ Zappa on a good day/Alice cooper after a shot of blood......" - Rick Holstead

"A wonderfully skewed and scrambled slab of strung out surrealist stew... the duo’s creative oddness is acutely fried and fractured in a way that suggests they’ve collectively had a listening overdose of Zappa... " - Mark Barton
